SPEAK - Year 2020 DPSCD Inspired - Spoken Word

Last year was tough..

But I think the future is clear now that we’ve SEEN with a 2020 vision..

transforming our sights into what we SPEAK.. 

which makes sense because before you SPEAK, you’ve gotta listen...

“Leadership is not just taking charge, it could be just looking out for someone having their back”

That’s a quote of Darnell from Central high school who thought it was quite cool to view leadership as a more refined jewel... 

seeing it as a less perplexed path to purify empathy within a generation that is precisely starving for more opportunity & less defined rules..

Let’s define WHO. 

We collaborated with students at Cass Tech, Pershing, Cody & Northwestern..

and under intense pressure we listened while ideating  that mentorship was a common request without question..

But here’s the lesson..

We discovered that each school had it’s own needs.. had it’s own unique mind frame.. 

had it’s own seeds.. 

had it’s own trees to hydrate... 

And so now we migrate..

To a garden of community & TOGETHERNESS.. 

where students can lead the student, a voice to breed more leaders.. 

man, forever this..

will be the game plan of the future.. 

where student leadership may not look like a tucked shirt or a 4.0 cumulative.. 

we reach higher.. 

cause this student leadership was designed to meet all students where they are like a 5 star rated Uber driver.. 

& honestly I’m uber excited...

Cause once we tested this idea amongst our peers..

we diminished any unnecessary fears to arrive here...

With all that you’ve learned , there’s even more that you could go SEEK.

So now I’m certain you agree upon all the reasons to SPEAK.
