you & You.
What does future YOU look like?
Quick update: Life is good. Not because of a job or a nice come-up, but because I’m alive. I’m alive with fresh ideas and amazing people to collaborate with. Life is good because I persistently pursue peace of mind, even if sometimes I do so with an impatient posture. Life is good because I recognize that my challenging journey looks a lot different than my seemingly progressive colleagues and friends… and that’s okay. Long ago, I accepted the fact that love conquers all under the sun. Hate is like a mosquito constantly biting, leaving bruises and scabs that itch for attention. But hate has no priority in my life, and just like that mosquito, it’s easy to swat away. Therefore, life is good. I love me. I love Dill.
How often do you love on you? I’m not just talking about self-care or enjoyable hobbies, I mean literally, how often do you actively express to yourself that you love you? If no one else tells you, do you tell yourself? Do you consider yourself in moments when people are always pulling at your talents and gifts? Do you thank yourself after you've given yourself space to heal in moments of brokenness? Do you forgive yourself from actions that have held you and your emotions hostage? I’m curious because I know you have a lot going on and you give yourself to others, but a lot of times, after you return home, park in the driveway or parking spot, you often walk through your door feeling empty... not just you. I’ve been there too. I’m still growing and trying to understand what my life looks like with a re-energized Dill... or a fully present Dill. What does future Dill look like if he only commits to his purpose and calling? How would all the extra stuff react? Should I care?
The future you looks healed. Healing is such a beautiful, popular word we use, but healing is also an ugly process. Have you ever had a scab and watched it heal over a few days without picking at it? That thang is hideous! But once it’s healed, the skin regains color and you can barely see the scar. And the pain is no longer present.
I’m excited about your healing. A healed you is a prosperous you. A prosperous you is a purposed you. And a purposed you is an impactful you. Now, imagine you as the best version of yourself… that very near future you. What impact can you make? Great news: Deep down, at that point, you will have the answer. You may even have it now.
Dream with me. Close your eyes and imagine your best life… okay, now open them.
At the end of the day, it comes down to you & You. I want you to be encouraged by the fact that Your future can start after you finish reading this last sentence.
